Many travelers call Pikey Peak the best viewpoint to see Everest. Our 9 days trek towards this amazing trek takes you to the Solu region to admire the panoramic stunning view of majestic Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Everest, Mt Makalu, Mt. Kanchenjunga, and many more. Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person who ascend Everest said this is his favorite spot to watch Mt. Everest. Though opened recently for travelers this route attracts only few nature lovers and mountaineers which give an opportunity to walk on and off the beaten isolated trail with no crowds to disturb.

This Peaky Peak trek lets you walk through the forest of orchid, pine, and rhododendron trees. On the way, we see terraced hills, lush valley, and frequently the magnificent views of snow-clad highest mountains in the world. This trek offers not only the scenic, natural beauty of the region but it also provides an opportunity to experience the culture of native Sherpa people in small villages amidst on our way. The beautiful monasteries and stupas that we came across add delightful amusement to our journey and if you travel in a flower blooming season the view of hills covered by orchid, magnolia, and rhododendron flowers.

The name Pikey comes from one of the Sherpa clans deity Pikey which represents the sky over nature. It’s a seasonal snowy hill at 4060 m altitudes. The trek is best for everyone from Novice to experienced trekker. It offers one of the best views of Mt. Everest, and other mountains, stunning panoramic views of low valleys, lush hills in the lower Khumbu region.

You can either drive or take a flight to reach our trekking starting point. It absolutely depends upon your travel preference and cost you can afford. While driving you will be blessed with engaging views of beautiful villages, distant mountains, and emerald hills. On the other hand, you will see the aerial views of the landscape from the sky. We will adjust the itinerary as per your request.

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted and welcomed by one of our representatives to this beautiful country of Nepal. You will be transferred to the respective hotel for rest and relaxation. In the evening, you can enjoy delicious Nepali cuisine and Nepali cultural shows.

 

Day 2
Trek Preparation and Sightseeing.

You will be briefed about the necessary gears and equipment we need while trekking. In the evening we will do the necessary shopping. In the morning after breakfast, we head towards popular sites in Kathmandu, which are also listed by UNESCO. Today we visit Basantapur Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath.

Day 3
Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap. (2900 m)

We drive for 8-9 hours to reach Dhap. The driving route follows the Sunkoshi river until Ghurmi. We enjoy the scenery of landscapes, rivers, and gorges on our way. After driving through various small towns and villages we finally arrive at Dhap Bazaar for our night stay in a lodge.

Day 4
Trek from Dhap to Jhapre (2930m)

Today we commence our trek. We walk through a dry trail which leads us to Sigane. Then the trail meets a road which is under construction. We walk for around two-hour to arrive Jhapre. It offers a stunning view of Mount Everest and deep valley. At Jhapre you can interact with local people and experience their way of living.

Day 5
Trek from Jhapre to Pikey Peak Base (3600 m)

Today after having our breakfast we hike following a dusty trail, climbing the uphill trail to reach Bhulbhule. We leave Bhulbhule following a steep trail following rhododendron tree forest and small settlements of Lhamuje. From Lhamuje the trail follows a pasture where you can see yaks grazing. We further follow a winding trail that takes us to Pikey Base. Pikey Base offers only a few guesthouses with basic facilities. Unless the weather is not clear, it is suggested to stay in Pikey base rather than visiting Pikey Peak which is just 2 hours from base. Also, it is advised to take enough rest to prevent AMS. 

Day 6
Trek from Pikey Base to Pikey Peak (4065m) to Junbesi via lamjura la pass (2700m) [5-6 hours]

Today is a special day as we ascend Pikey Peak, the destination of our journey. We start early today to witness the magnificent sun glowing in the snow-clad mountains. We will observe the stunning panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Dhawalagiri, Makalu, Thamserku, Langtang, and many more. After spending some time with the wonders of nature and taking some pictures for memory we descend to Junbesi for overnight stay. We will cross Lamjura pass on our way which also showcases the stunning views of the lower Khumbu region.

Day 7
Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu (2469m) 4 hours

Today we follow Junabesi river descending towards Benighat, crossing suspension bridges. We further walk through the forest observing the scenic view on our way. We finally arrive at Phaplu. We mark this day the end of our trek. We rest at Phaplu overnight.

Day 8
Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu

We board on a domestic flight at Phaplu that will take us to Kathmandu. The aerial view of snow-clad mountains is something you want to enjoy your 35 minutes flight. You will be dropped to your hotel when we arrive in Kathmandu and you can indulge yourself in a city life after arrival in Kathmandu.

 

Day 9
International Departure

Today is the last day of our 9 day's journey towards Pikey Peak. You will be transferred to TIA for departure towards your homeland. You will be filled with the thrill you’ve experienced and the culture and natural beauty you have witnessed. We bid farewell thus completing this amazing 9 days' journey.
